The Tulsa Gypsy building was built in 1906 for Gypsy Oil which later became Gulf Oil Oklahoma then Warren Petroleum. Gypsy Oil pumped more oil and drilled more wells than any Tulsa oil company of it's time.
The Building changed hands many times until we purchased it from the Meek's Furniture Warehouse, an old Tulsa family. December 31st, 1998, sitting on the roof with the trees and cattails growing there I wondered what had we just gotten into.
After 25 years of being boarded up, we were going to bring the gypsy back to life. We removed over 16 tons of gypsum plaster, old lead pipes, and there was no water, heating/cooling or electric. We started at the top and worked down. One and a half years later in January 2000 we opened The Gypsy Coffeehouse & Cyber Cafe' bringing the 103 year old building back to life!
